About RoSMa2018

This International Conference is a forum which will discuss about the current issues and trends in the development of robotics, application of smart manufacturing, application of smart materials in robotics and allied areas. Experts from Industry and Academia will be delivering key-note lectures. An International Student Robot Competition is also part of this Conference. This is the first edition in "Robotics" series. Subsequent editions will be once in two years.

About Institute

Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing Kancheepuram (IIITDM Kancheepuram) is an Institute of National Importance established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to pursue design and manufacturing oriented engineering education and research and to promote the competitive advantage of Indian products & talents in global markets. IIITDM Kancheepuram is a Centre of Excellence for technical education and research established in 2007 to impart practice based design and manufacturing oriented engineering education and research.

It is one of the three IIITDM's, the others being located in Jabalpur and in Kurnool (Mentored by IIITDM Kancheepuram). The Institute is presently offering B.Tech programmes in Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (Design & Manufacturing), Mechanical Engineering (Design & Manufacturing) and Smart Manufacturing, 5 Dual Degree Programmes leading to B.Tech and M.Tech Degrees, M.Des in Electronic Systems Design, Communication Systems Design, Mechanical Systems Design, M.Tech-Smart anufacturing and inter-disciplinary Ph.D programmes in core and applied areas of engineering.

About International Student Robot Competition

A "Student Robot Competition" of undergraduate/graduate level is also a part of the conference which will be conducted in parallel with paper presentation. The competition involves testing a low cost robot for three dimensional steering, obstacle avoidance, navigation through conduits, staircase climbing and human detection.
