Vidhai | IIITDM Kancheepuram

VIDHAI is a non-profit initiative established by students of IIITDM Kancheepuram thereafter endorsed by the administration. Currently, about 76 students are volunteering for VIDHAI.

'Teach children in your free time the basics of Basic sciences, Soft skills, English, Dance, Art, Music, Sports.... and feel the happiness and self satisfaction of your lifetime'

Vision

To bridge the gap of inequality existent between under-privileged and well-off laying great emphasis on the education of poor children.

Mission

Two categories of works are being taken up namely:

‘Teaching’ activity that involves our student-volunteers interested in dispensing knowledge to the students of government schools in a digitalised environment irrespective of the languages the volunteers know. Any volunteer who has a passion for teaching can teach any subject among English, Basic Sciences, Soft-Skills, Mathematics.
‘Non-Teaching’ activity involves tasks relating to the development of infrastructure of the schools possible with the help of funds raised by the students of the institute.

Voluntery works

Teaching:

Schools being visited: Kandigai, Kumizhi, Keerapakkam, Melakottayiur
Number of volunteers visiting schools on an average daily: 6
Number of visits paid to the schools to date: 16
Teaching hours of sessions taken up by volunteers to date: 27 hrs

Non-Teaching:

Purchased a ceiling fan and a table in response to the request put forth by a teacher at ‘Anganwadi’ school near one of our institute’s main gates
Groundwork is underway for organising a medical camp for eye check-up for students in one of the schools.
Planning for taking up the activity of wall-painting in selective classrooms of the schools with the help of interested volunteers.
